Internet connection at ICAPS '03
- Fixed PCs (Internet room):
Direct internet connection will be made available on 20 PCs,
installed in the foyer of the conference site.
The PCs will be equipped with Linux RedHat 9.
OpenOffice, Mozilla 1.3.1 and Konqueror browsers,
telnet, rlogin and ftp will be available on those machines.
A login will be available for every ICAPS participant.
The login will be the lower-case justaposition of the name and
surname of the user, and the password will be his surname.
Standard Unix commands will be available for changing password.
Logins and home directories will be removed immediately after
closing the conference.
Notice: In the afternoon of Tuesday, June 10, the capacity of the Internet room will be reduced,
since some PCs will be used for the ICAPS03 Hands-On
Tutorial on Model Checking.
- Portable PCs:
Direct internet connection will also be available
to the partecipants for their portables PC.
In the Internet area an RJ45 ethernet hub will be available for fixed
network connection up to 16 simultaneous PCs. For pcmcia network
cards, please remember to bring with you the external connector.
In the main conference hall also a wireless connection (WiFi, 802.11b),
will be available.
The IP configuration will be delivered using DHCP, both for IP, gateway and
DNS settings.
To configure your portable PC for Internet connection at ICAPS:
- If your portable is equipped with Windows, you must check (in the TCP/IP properties panel):
Obtain an IP address automatically
Obtain DNS server address automatically
- If your portable is equipped with Linux,
you must select DHCP in the configuration files.
For the wireless connection the network essid will be ICAPS.
